It is valuable to be able to distinguish between narcissistic personalities and sociopaths (also called anti-social personalities). They share a few character traits in common. Both can be charming, charismatic, and highly manipulative. The sociopath is often physically dangerous and deeply involved in criminal activity. He is unconcerned about his image while the narcissist is obsessed with the elaborate convincing public mask that he presents to the world.
